Accupril

Accupril is a drug that is used to treat congestive heart failure and hypertension. Accupril is the brand name that is used by the company Pfizer to market the drug Quinapril in the United States. When Accupril is used, it is converted to the substance quinaprilat in the liver; this makes Accupril a type of prodrug. The effect of Accupril is to inhibit an enzyme which creates a vasoconstrictor molecule. A vasoconstrictor is a type of molecule that makes the blood vessels become tighter which increases blood pressure. By reducing the amount of this molecule in the blood, Accupril reduces blood pressure. The result of using Accupril, then, is to reduce blood pressure, which is used either directly in situations where the goal is to reduce hypertension, or as part of an overall program of treatment for congestive heart failure, by making it easier for the blood vessels to pump blood without being obstructed.

In order to make sure that you do not suffer any kinds of adverse Accupril side effects, be sure and have your doctor be aware of any other kinds of drugs that you are taking when you are taking Accupril to prevent there from being harmful interactions.

For some people, a relationship may exist between Accupril and impotency, as reduced blood pressure from the use of Accupril can cause a correlation between Accupril and erectile dysfunction. You can also ask your pharmacist about Accupril side effects including choking, and the relationship between Accupril and hypoglycemia. Some of the other side effects that can be experienced as a result of Accupril ingredients include fatigue, vomiting, upset stomach, cough and dizziness. Some of the conditions that should indicate it is not a good idea to take Accupril include pregnancy, a history of angioedema, or impaired renal and liver function.

The cost of Accupril varies between the 5 mg, 10 mg, 20 mg and 40 mg tablet. You may be able to get a better price for Accupril if you are close to the border with Canada and can buy your Accupril there to avoid current high prices for prescription drugs in the United States. You can also try to get Accupril without a prescription over the internet; however, this is illegal as Accupril as a prescription drug that should only be dispensed by pharmacists in accordance with a doctor's note to make sure that Accupril does not interact negatively with any other drugs being taken.
