Avapro

Avapro is a trade name used by the companies sanofi-aventis and Bristol-Myers Squibb for the prescription drug Irbesartan. Avapro medication is an angiotestin II receptor antagonist, a common kind of hyper tension treatment drug. This class of drug acts by causing the smooth muscles on blood vessels to relax, widening the blood vessels and allowing more blood to flow (which decreases the blood pressure). Avapro high blood pressure medicine is most often used simply for that purpose - Avapro medication used to keep blood pressure low and help prevent heart attacks or at least reduce the risk of heart problems due to high blood pressure or congestion. Avapro blood pressure medicine is used at home on an ongoing basis and is not as commonly seen in hospitals as some of the other kinds of angiotestin II receptor antagonists. Avapro was originally developed at Sanofi Research labs.

Avapro side effects: Among the Avapro side effects are weight gain or Avapro weight loss (weight gain or weight loss are common side effects for practically any type of prescription medication, as there can be complex changes in the way that people feel and act based on a change in the medication that they are taking). An Avapro cough may occur as a result of the throat becoming swollen when blood pressure is lowered (and as a result, more blood flows into a specific area of the body). Avapro bruising is another possible side effect related to the change in blood levels in different parts of the body. These side effects of Avapro and symptoms of Avapro are fairly standard for these types of blood pressure medication, and Avapro is not particularly dangerous when compared to other similar blood pressure treatment options (such as Niacin Avapro or Avapro Plus versus Benicar).

Some of the other uses of Avapro include delaying diabetic nephropathy and slowing down the progression of renal disease in type 2 diabetes patients. Often, Avapro is also combined with hydrochlorothiazide, a low dose thiazide diuretic, to improve the impact it has on reducing levels of hyper tension. Some of the products that use this combination of drugs are Avapro HCT, Avalide, Karvezide and CoAprovel; these trade names are similar to the names of other types of preparations which include Avapro / Irbesartan. Only take Avapro under the supervision of a doctor and only buy Avapro if you have received a valid prescription as the result of a medical check up.
