Mupirocin

Mupirocin ointment is a topical antibiotic that is used to treat infections of the skin. The most common use for Mupirocin is impetigo. This common skin infection is often treated with oral antibiotics as well as a topical cream such as Mupirocin. There are other purposes for Mupirocin, however, and some require a different form of the medication. Mupirocin ointment to treat fungus is available, and depending on your condition and its severity, the amount of times per day the medication will need to be applied can vary. Similarly, the length of time in which the medication should be taken will change on a case by case basis.

Since infections of the skin are usually what Mupirocin is used for, this means that after using Mupirocin, a scar may be left on the skin. If you want to try to avoid these results, you can supplement Mupirocin with calcium as well as vitamin E and other skin health vitamins. Be sure to discuss with your doctor if any pills you are taking will interfere with the progress of Mupirocin before taking them, even if they are all natural. Usually, there aren’t many side effects of Mupirocin. Mupirocin should be taken the entire amount of time it was prescribed, because it may appear to get better long before the infection has been completely eliminated. Doing this can interfere with the effectiveness of Mupirocin.
