Paxil

Paxil is an antidepressant medication that is used for many mental illnesses caused by chemical imbalances within the brain. A few of the conditions treated by Paxil include depression, obsessive compulsive disorder (also known as OCD), as well as anxiety disorders. Paxil may also be used in conjunction with other medications, or it may be prescribed as a lone treatment.

What is Paxil? Paxil cr is a pill that is taken on a daily basis, sometimes more than once a day, to reduce the effects of anxiety or depression that is experienced by the patient. Paxil is not a quick fix, and typically takes weeks before the patient will begin to feel its effects. There are many other common types of medicines that can be prescribed in its place, and one of the commonly switched types that are compared often is Zoloft versus Paxil. Paxil vs. Zoloft comparison will end up with different results for each person, as they typically have the same benefits and side effects, but it is the person taking the medication that is the variable. And, some people will react better to one than the other.

There are many side effects of the Paxil drug, and of these, one of the most common is Paxil and the resulting weight gain. Paxil side effects can also include anxiety, depression and suicidal or manic thoughts. This is why some people react well to the medication and some prefer to use a different type, although the Paxil side effects are very similar to those of all antidepressant drugs. Other side effects can be avoided, such as the effects that will occur if you mix Paxil and alcohol. Typically, when taking Paxil, you should not drink alcohol.

If you decide to take Paxil back off your list of medications to take everyday, you will want to wean yourself from the medication slowly. If you stop taking Paxil suddenly, you will likely experience a Paxil withdrawal. Paxil withdrawal symptoms can include increased experience of the original symptoms that required the drug as well as a host of other symptoms. This is why, if you choose to quit Paxil, you will want to begin slowly reducing your dosage amounts over a period of weeks. There have been reports of Paxil causing extreme side effects, and there have been Paxil settlements you can read about through lawyers or on the Internet. These have led to added warning labels so that everyone is informed of all risks before choosing to take Paxil.
